Artist biography:
Born: 1978, Seke, Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe
An artist from childhood, Kambudzi went through a three year art training course at the Visual Arts Studios of the National Gallery in Mbare before beginning a long and fruitful association with the Gallery Delta in Harare, where he received additional training and exhibition space.
In 2003 he travelled to New Zealand for a short time on a Commonwealth Scholarship before returning to his troubled country with his wife and family. There he has continued to develop and has enjoyed increasing critical success both at home and internationally.
Kambudzi's canvases are usually large and show crowded city life with both everyday life and different situations of suffering and humiliation. All his works however, show touches of humour and few situations escape his attention.
Lovemore Kambudzi has had both solo shows and group exhibitions in his native Zimbabwe and in Europe.
