Artist biography:
Born in London in 1970
Jonathan Yeo did not go to art school but taught himself to paint in his early 20s while recovering from Hodgkin's Disease.
Yeo, a British artist who rose to prominence in the 1990s as a contemporary portraitist, is responsible for iconic paintings of Dennis Hopper, Prince Philip and Erin O'Connor amongst others. Some of his most famous work includes a portrait of George W Bush which was made up of cuttings from pornographic magazines.
In 2006, the National Portrait Gallery acquired Yeo's portrait of Rupert Murdoch for its permanent collection.
