Artist biography:
Born: 1975, Johannesburg, South Africa
Goodman studied Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She then moved to London to join the MA course at Goldsmiths College, graduating in 2000.
From 2001 to 2003 she lived in Antwerp, where she was artist in residence at HISK, Higher Institute for Fine Art. Her atmospheric soundpieces, presented as installations, audio monologues and sound sculptures, cross the boundaries between visual and media arts and explore everyday routines, obsessions and social interactions.
Goodman has received numerous awards and merits throughout her career, including the Ernest Oppenheimer Memorial Trust Scholarship, SA in 2002 and 2001, the Martinessen Prize, First Prize Winner, from the University of Witwatersrand, SA, in 1997, as well as the Witwatersrand Sculpture Merit Award in the same year.
Goodman has participated in over 50 group exhibitions since 1999, with solo shows in Copenhagen, Brussels, South Africa and Ireland. Her work is held in private collections in South Africa as well as at the Chase Manhattan Collection in New York and at the Rand Merchant Bank Headquarters in London.
