Artist biography:
Born in Boksburg, South Africa in 1956
Studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, Cape Town.
Barend uses most media, including sculpture, painting, photography and conceptual.
De Wet has won the Vita Art Awards in 1992 and the Volkskas Atelier Prize in 1990 amongst others.
He exhibited at the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1994 and has collections at the South African National Gallery and Stellenbosch University.
