A portrait by Andres Serrano, to be photographed at the artist's studio in New York on a date mutually convenient to the artist and subject. The final print will be either 32.5 x 40 in (82.5 x 101.6 cm) or 50 x 60 in (127 x 152.4 cm), based on the successful bidder's preference and the artist's advice. The successful bidder will bear, in addition to his bid, the associated production costs, (approximately $1400 for a 32.5 x 40 in framed print or $2400 for a 50 x 60 in framed print).

Artist biography:
Born: 1950, New York
Serrano is from a half Honduran, half Afro-Cuban background, and was raised a strict Roman Catholic. He studied from 1967 to 1969 at the Brooklyn Museum and Art School before working as an assistant art director at an advertising firm.
He created his first works in 1983 at age 28. His work has been exhibited in diverse locations around the world including the Episcopal Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City, World without End (2001), and a retrospective at the Barbican Arts Centre in London, Body and Soul (2001) as well as numerous galleries and museums in U.S. and Europe including; the Southeast Center for Contemporary Art, Brooklyn Museum, High Museum (Atlanta, Georgia), Stux Gallery, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art (Nimes, France), Robert Klein Gallery (Boston, Massachusetts), and BlumHelman Gallery (Santa Monica, California).
Throughout his career, Serrano has been recognized with various awards including; 35th Publication Design Competition, 2001, Gold Medal, Art Directors Club 79th Annual Awards, 2000, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, Cintas Foundation, 1989 and the National Endowment for the Arts 1986 as well as many others.
Serrano lives and works in New York.
